Hypnosis can Improve Sleep

These days, many people suffer from stress induced ailments, one of them being sleep disorders. Sleep problems caused by stress can easily be solved using hypnosis. When stress is removed, the accompanying problems can also disappear.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is defined as a state of focused concentration, bypass of the critical factor and establishment of acceptable selective thinking. As this state a person readily accepts powerful suggestions for change. In hypnosis, a hypnotherapist is able to identify stresses or insomnia triggers that are neutralized so that the person can have a restful sleep. Techniques like anchoring positive feelings are taught that could help the person in stressful situations.

Being in a hypnotic state is not the same as being asleep. However, under hypnosis, therapists influence the mind and the body to create better sleep patterns. Using hypnosis to sleep better trains the mind to release the day's worries and concentrate on getting a full night of rest.

Hypnosis for Sleep

Hypnosis can improve a number of sleep problems like bed wetting, nightmares, sleep walking and insomnia. In some cases, insomnia is caused by the side effects of certain medications, and or emotional disturbances and depression. A trained and experienced hypnotherapist will be able to help people overcome certain challenges so that they can have better sleep.

Self Hypnosis for Better Sleep

As part of the treatment plan, a hypnotherapist will also teach a client self hypnosis that when practiced by the client can help to enhance the work that he does in private one on one sessions.

Here's an example of self hypnosis techniques:

  • Lie down and close your eyes.
  • Allow your arms to rest comfortably at each side.
  • Start taking deep breaths, drawn from the diaphragm.
  • Flex and relax your muscles, beginning at the toes and then gradually moving upwards.
  • Continue toward your shoulders and down to your fingers.
  • Concentrate on relaxing and allow your mind to relax.
  • Begin a countdown from 25 to 1 and imagine yourself descending gracefully from a high point to a lower one.
  • Make every count at the point of exhalation and mentally envision a deeper state of relaxation.
  • By the count of 1 or before, your mind starts drifting and you fall asleep.

Conclusion

Over time, self-hypnosis techniques can teach people to relax with very little effort. Trained hypnotherapists will also be able to teach their clients a mind body spirit form of self hypnosis called 7th Path, which is designed to deprogram their minds of limiting beliefs and then to program them to be able to achieve whatever they want, need or desire, and in this case a good night's sleep.
