What is Anxiety?

People often feel anxious when faced with something they fear, such as trying something new or undertaking significant tasks like a job interview. While anxiety is a common emotion, for some individuals, it can reach extreme levels, significantly affecting their lives. In these cases, they may be experiencing an anxiety disorder.

Types of Anxiety Disorder

There are various types of anxiety disorders, known by different names, including phobias, fears (such as fear of flying or public speaking), social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Anxiety can manifest in different ways – social anxiety (avoidance of social contexts and fear of judgment); phobias (extreme fears of specific objects or situations); hypochondria (extreme worries about health condition; fear of illness); obsessive-compulsions (recurring, intrusive thoughts or fears; compulsive behaviours); post-traumatic stress disorder (flashbacks/nightmares of traumatic event; hypervigilance; avoidance of things related to the trauma); separation anxiety (fear of being apart from loved ones; distress when apart).

The encouraging news is that anxiety disorders are treatable. Even mild anxiety, such as the kind experienced before a job interview or an important presentation, can be managed to avoid affecting one’s performance and health. For instance, many of our clients have successfully used our services to overcome anxiety related to preparing for significant presentations to board members or key clients.

What is Hypnotherapy / Hypnosis Therapy?

Hypnotherapy, also known as hypnosis therapy, addresses anxiety at the unconscious level where its root causes reside. The approach to treating anxiety disorders with hypnotherapy varies based on the specific fears, individual responses to anxiety, and any significant life events linked to the current anxiety. These major life events are uncovered during hypnotherapy sessions and are addressed to alleviate their impact on anxiety.

Hypnotherapy: An Effective Therapy Modality for Anxiety

Hypnotherapy is an effective treatment for anxiety that focuses on accessing the unconscious mind to identify and address the root causes of anxious feelings. Unlike traditional therapies that primarily engage the conscious mind, hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to create a heightened state of awareness, or trance. In this state, individuals can explore deep-seated phobias, fears and anxieties that might be influencing their behavior and emotional responses. By working through these underlying issues, hypnotherapy helps reframe negative thought patterns and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This therapeutic approach can significantly reduce anxiety symptoms, improve emotional well-being, and enhance overall quality of life, providing lasting relief for those struggling with anxiety disorders.
